Craziest Homemade Bongs

May 30th, 2020

Maybe you want to get a little crafty and start a new DIY project, or you literally have nothing to smoke out of, whatever the reason, homemade weed bongs are just as fun to make as they are to take rips from. We’ve moved well beyond the days of fruit pipes, simple bottle bongs, and the desperate-looking tampon gravity bong (yup, it’s actually a thing). Today, pot smokers are getting extremely creative and resourceful when it comes to homemade bong designs. If you’re thinking about  making a gravity bong   from items you already have at home, check out our step-by-step guide. It may not be that impressive, but it works when you’re in a pinch!

Double chamber New Amsterdam bong

From lamps to vases, I’m sure you’ve seen some crazy creations made from upcycled alcohol bottles. If you’re just as into vodka as you are into pot, add this homemade bong to your project list. With two large chambers, the water bong has lots of space for water filtration and for smoke to accumulate, so it probably works like a charm and gives super comfortable hits. It’s just made from two New Amsterdam bottles (a 375 ML bottle and a 1.75 L bottle) stacked over one another. If you want even smoother rips, add an  ash catcher   like this Instagram user did.

Lava lamp bong

Lava lamps may have been invented back in the 60s, but they’re still super chill to zone out to at one in the morning. If you have an old lava lamp lying around in your garage, why not turn it into a funky light up bong that is sure to be a hit at your next smoke sesh with friends. You can get super creative with this one, however you will need to know how to make a hole in the glass for the downstem. Pick up a  diffused downstems   for just $4.20 at our online headshop that would work great for this project. After your downstem is fitted, install a small battery powered light in the lamp’s base so you’re not confined to the length of the power cord and be ready for some groovy bong rips.

Water jug gravity bong

You’ve probably given this giant gravity bong a try back in your college days and maybe you’re still a bit traumatized by the experience. As you can imagine, the water jug gravity bong produces insanely huge amounts of vapor that takes DIY bongs to the next level. Since so much smoke is produced in one go, you can even share it with a group of friends. Just make sure to cover the top of the water jug so the smoke doesn’t come out, unlike what the boys did in this video. This is the easiest water bong to make on the list and takes just five minutes to whip together. All you need to do is cut the water jug in half, make a hole in the cap that fits a bowl and use a five-gallon bucket for the base.

Homemade bong masks

Double hitter bottle bong mask

If you’re looking for double the high and double the fun, create your very own bottle bong mask (Mario costume not necessary). This homemade bong mask is very easy to create, though most people don’t have extra tubing lying around the house. For this dual water bong you’ll need three large plastic bottles (one is for the mask), two downstems, two bowls, and tubing. @kushkloc is the master of homemade bongs and his Instagram is filled with absolutely crazy inventions like a one-story tall water bottle dab rig, a light up water bottle gas mask, and a burrito pipe (yes, you read that right).

Lego bong mask

There are no words to describe the insane Lego bong creations of @boltedwood. His homemade bong mask is straight up ridiculous, but seems like so much fun to watch and take a hit from. Both the bong and mask are made from Lego bricks, while the colorful bong is topped with a light up bat signal. The Lego bong mask has a mouth hole for a tube that is attached to the bong. It looks like there is a glass bowl sticking out of the top, but besides that, how this Lego contraption is made is a mystery.

Edible homemade bongs

Cake bong

With this bong, you can get blazed and eat it afterwards. Bakers will have a blast creating this crazy edible bong that’s perfect for when the  munchies   hit. Instagram user @colombian_shawty_ made a yummy raspberry lemonade flavored cake that is hollow in the center and has a hole that fits a  glass bowl . After fine tuning the shape to exactly how you want it, you can let your imagination run wild as you decorate your cake bong in colorful frosting and sprinkles. Do you have any birthday parties coming up? This might just be the cake of their dreams.

Chocolate Easter bunny dab rig

No one actually eats those extra large chocolate eggs and Easter bunnies, so the next time you get one as a gift, why not turn it into something worthwhile. This homemade bong may not be very practical since chocolate and heat don’t really mix (unless you’re making syrup for an ice cream sundae), but it looks pretty dang cool. This design has hole in the bunny’s eye for the  quartz banger , which you can see is starting to melt the chocolate, but you can also swap it out for a regular bowl that’ll probably be easier to use.

Smoking from a homemade gravity bong is fun, but if you’re ready to upgrade to a real bong, check out our  online headshop   for silicone bongs, smoking bowls, mini bongs, giant bongs, and more.
