How to Celebrate 4/20 at Home

April 18th, 2020

With the global COVID-19 pandemic forcing most of us to quarantine at home, this 4/20 will be very different than past years however it’s still possible to enjoy 4/20 while social distancing. There will be no quick runs to the  dispensary   or smoke outs with friends and all of the highly anticipated events celebrating our favorite bud have been canceled. But that doesn’t mean you have to blaze alone on the couch (though that’s never a bad idea). Here’s how to make the most out of the stoner holiday and celebrate 4/20 virtually while at home.

Try a new way of consuming your pot

Never experimented with edibles before? What about full-spectrum extracts or CBD balms? There are numerous ways to consume cannabis that doesn’t involve smoking or vaping and right now is the perfect time to experiment with different options since you’re stuck in the house. If the stress of  COVID-19   has got you down, give CBD a shot. The cannabinoid is used to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. You can also call up your local dispensary to see if they have any new products in stock that you haven’t tried before. Testing out different  cannabis strains   is also a fun way to spice up your typical 4/20 routine. Each strain and even each crop can have subtle nuances in potency, flavor, and effects. Spend your stoner holiday getting baked with different types of bud and take notes on the differences. You may just discover your new favorite strain.

Join a virtual 4/20 event from your living room

Many of the most popular weed celebrations are taking it virtual this year. Two canceled events, the National Cannabis Festival and The Emerald Cannabis Cup, organized the  HighStream 4/20 Festival , a nation-wide online salute to weed benefiting charities fighting COVID-19. The all-day event is jam packed with live music performances, demonstrations, seminars, and panels with marijana legends. Weedmaps is also throwing a 4/20 shindig of its own,  Higher Together: Sessions From Home . The self-proclaimed world’s biggest virtual 420 celebration will feature live music, giveaways, online smoke sessions and appearances by Wiz Khalifa, Billy Ray Cyrus, Berner, Stephen Marley, and others.

Host your own private smoke-a-thon with friends

If you’re all out of 4/20 party ideas, why not get together virtually with a bunch of friends for a private smoke sesh. Send out a Zoom invite, stock up on your favorite bud, microwave some snacks for when the  munchies   hit, and don’t forget the 4/20 party decorations! Your smoking circle can watch a movie together, have a dance party, play games like pictionary, or just get high and catch up. For a more sophisticated vibe, organize a smoke and DIY event and unleash your creativity. Ask your virtual attendees to bring one of their forgotten craft projects (we all have them) so everyone can paint, color, cook, sew, or finish that vision board together. With a little planning, throwing a 4/20 party at home can be a lot of fun.

Be part of a world record

4/20/2020 will probably already go down in history, but if you want your name in the record books, join the  420 World Record   created by cannabis entrepreneur Tony Diepenbrock. Once you sign up, you’ll be sent a Zoom link with instructions on how to join the world record for the most people consuming marijuana on video chat. There’s currently over 5,000 people signed up and ready for the massive virtual burn sesh. You can feel good about joining since all donations will be matched by Diepenbrock and are going to the Last Prisoner Project. Nearly 16 million people were arrested on cannabis offenses within the last 10 years and yes, you can still go to jail for possession in some states. The non-profit helps reduce the sentences or free inmates serving time for nonviolent cannabis-related crimes in the U.S.

Zone out to a weed-themed podcast or TheWeedTube video

Sometimes it’s not a bad thing to spend time with yourself and completely unwind. Forget about the craziness of the world right now and focus on honoring the sticky icky this April 20th by diving into weed-themed podcasts. There are hundreds of shows to listen to covering topics ranging from cannabis news and industry updates to comedy shows, cultivation tips, interviews, politics, pot culture, and much more. To start off, listen to a few of the most popular podcasts such as CannaInsider, Getting Doug with High, Casually Baked, Weed + Grub, and The Adam Dunn Show. For smokers who prefer to have visuals with their audio, navigate through the crazy world that is  TheWeedTube . The site was created for marijuana content creators to share their videos without the fear of being censored or banned on platforms like YouTube. There’s a lot of content to weed through, so be prepared because you never know what you’re going to find.
